Masterson Method® (MM) and Energy work
The MM is an interactive method of equine bodywork that helps build trust with the horse and can help resolve long term stress and stiffness in the body in a few sessions. With this method the practitioner works with the horses response to find the area of tension and aid the release. This technique also works with the nervous system helping them actively participate in the process, the ethos to work with the horse and not to the horse.

Energy Work is a holistic medicine with ancient roots. It is a healing and balancing of mind body and spirit through intention and touch, with a positive effect the emotional, physical and systemic health. You will be familiar with some of these practises such as Reiki and Acupressure.
We have all experienced energy healing, from our earliest days when our mother would rub a bump and ‘kiss it better’, a sympathetic or understanding of our pain made us feel better. We are all capable of making our pets or loved ones feel better by just being there for them, that is your energy doing that.
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing. A practitioner will work on your bodies 7 Chakras, each one corresponding to nerve bundles through the body. This can be a hands on healing or from distance, breath work or meditation.
Acupressure and Acupuncture are also considered energy healing. It is a Traditional Chinese Medicine TCM. There are many levels to being a TCM that is more than just sticking with needles! The acupuncture and pressure work on the flow of energy through pathways called meridians. The meridians have been mapped and studied so that stimulating a few specific points can readdress the balance and function of the body.
How I use these methods in a treatment.
After finding out a little about you and your horse, the routine you have for his health and well-being and any performance issues that you feel are significant I will do a hands on assessment, to look for tension, restriction, heat, while paying attention to his emotions. The treatment is mostly guided by the horse and his reaction to the body work, being aware of his threshold for the first sign of tension and working below that so he can be part of the process. None of these modalities are a replacement for your vet, chiropractor, physiotherapist but my aim is to work with other professionals to aid the horse.
I am an advanced student of the Masterson Method® and continue to treat horses with the advantage of assistance from my mentors.
I have been attuned for Reiki and attended a level 1 course for Reiki on horses, dogs and people. It has been a valuable tool for me, improving my touch and feel with the horses. I also do a meditation Reiki for riders too.
I use Acupressure to asses the horse and address the balance in specific points through the body. This is a subject that can take a lifetime to study.
Treating your horse. An initial consultation and treatment for your horse can take a couple of hours, then I can make a plan for the follow up treatment. I recommend 3 treatment 2 to 3 weeks apart and follow up appointments as and when you feel they are needed.
